Sharing the Joy and Power of Life in Christ!

Sunday Mornings at Emmanuel

Youth (grades 6-12) gather together to explore their faith journeys with Christ in the real world. Lessons are designed to help youth examine how to be Christians in an ever-changing world and build their confidence to develop their faith beyond Sunday mornings. Discussions are often centered around a video or news clipping to help keep the discussion applicable to their lives.

Wednesday Evenings at Emmanuel

EYC (Episcopal Youth Community grades 6-12) gather at 6:00 p.m. to enjoy a meal together and talk casually about life. We often spend time just playing together as we recognize the importance of a mid-week break from the stress of school and extracurricular activities. Topics about faith, family, and issues relevant to teens frequently lead us into healthy, faith-filled discussions that help build upon the foundations laid in Sunday morning formation. Our youth also enjoy many diocesan events, especially weekend youth retreats at Chanco on the James.

Social and Service Activities

Understanding that a balance of social activities and service projects is important in the faith life of our youth, we strive to plan the occasional event that takes us on an adventure together or provides a service to members of our community. Sometimes we even find adventure in our service! Our youth have been found serving dinner at a local homeless shelter, packing meals for Stop Hunger Now, stuffing bags full of food for the Virginia Beach Beach Bags program, and working in a thrift store on an Indian reservation in South Dakota. We also enjoy playing laser tag, going on scavenger hunts, spending lazy days at the beach, and going to movies!
