Sharing the Joy and Power of Life in Christ!

Outreach

“Come, you that are blessed by my Father, inherit the kingdom prepared for you from the foundation of the world; for I was hungry and you gave me food, I was thirsty and you gave me something to drink, I was a stranger and you welcomed me, I was naked and you gave me clothing, I was sick and you took care of me, I was in prison and you visited me.”

Our Outreach ministry embraces these words of Jesus. We not only provide financial support to programs, but we offer lots of hands-on participation. We remind parishioners that we are agents of God’s kingdom in our community and in the world.

We are proud to be a Jubilee Ministry Center. We are avidly engaged in mission and ministry among and with people in need.

Our ministry includes:

  • Judeo-Christian Outreach Center – provides food and shelter for the homeless.  We prepare and serve meals quarterly and as needed.
  • Mission of the Holy Spirit – assists children and teens in Norfolk.
  • Kairos Prison Ministry — addresses the needs of incarcerated men and women.
  • Angel Tree – provides Christmas presents for children with parents in prison.
  • Beach Bags – provides food to students who may not have enough to eat on the weekends. Emmanuel has adopted children from Arrowhead Elementary School.
  • Emmanuel’s Food Pantry – serves families referred by Virginia Beach Social Services.
  • Meals on Wheels – delivers meals one week each month.
  • Blood Drive – hosts three blood drives each year, usually on the first Tuesday in April, August, and December.
  • Faith Works Coalition – Volunteers from Emmanuel and other Virginia Beach and Chesapeake churches provide assistance in home maintenance for elderly, disabled, disadvantaged and low income home owners. We help about 100 local families each year. Emmanuel volunteers serve on an annual disaster relief mission trip.
